Heavy-flavour production in ATLAS: Onia and open flavour hadrons
Studies of heavy-flavour production at the LHC are interesting in order to understand the direct heavy-quarkonium production mechanism and test the predictions for bb production at the new energy regime. Recent ATLAS results using the charmonium states Xc1, Xc2 and ψ' are presented. The measurements of the direct (pp→ccX) and indirect (pp→BX →ccX0) charmonium production extend to higher pT than earlier measurements from CMS and LHCb, which is important in the comparison of the results with theoretical predictions from various models.
