Various levels of high speed VLSI interconnect models are described, followed by a detailed derivation of a transmission line stencil. The basic issues involved in interconnect simulation are discussed and the formation of circuit equations in the presence of interconnect models is outlined. Moment matching techniques including asymptotic waveform evaluation and complexity frequency hopping (CFH) are discussed. Extension of CFH to frequency dependent RLCG parameters, electronic interference based models, fullwave models and measured subnetworks are presented.
