This chapter documents the recent history of the Ottawa Technology Cluster. It describes the origins of the firms in the cluster, provides a profile of both businesses and founders of these firms, and identifies sources of knowledge and capital. These enterprises are not “overnight successes,” nor are they “fly by night” businesses. They are solidly anchored in the local community with informal investors who supply financing as well as significant non-financial inputs to the firms in the cluster.
