Two vertical transitions in Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic packages are presented: a stripline to stripline transition and a coplanar waveguide to stripline transition. The vertical transitions are examined in order to determine their usefulness as building blocks for multilayer packages for Local Multipoint Communication Systems circuits. The use of a quarter-wave transformer in tuning the coplanar waveguide to stripline transition is demonstrated and discussed. The simulated results show that both transitions are valid for packages designed for 30 GHz circuits.
