A ring oscillator with two control signals is presented. It is used in the design of a low power multi-band voltage-controlled ring oscillator. Fabricated in CMOS 0.18μm technology, a single VCO can support operation in six frequency bands including 450MHz, 700MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz, and 2400MHz. The VCO occupies 2461μm2 chip area and consumes from 2.2mW to 5.6mW from a 1.8V supply.
