For safe accommodation of the rapidly rising volume of cyclists in transportation infrastructure, riskbased design guidelines and standards are required. This paper reports methodologies for quantifying risk to cyclists due to common occupancy of space with motor vehicles and the potentially adverse aerodynamic effect of large motor vehicles.
