Biochemical limits of detection with near infrared surface waves on optical fibers
Precise control of the phase, amplitude and polarization of surface waves on single-mode optical fibers with tilted fiber Bragg gratings allows for selective detection limits at picomolar levels and for monitoring living cell activity.
